Public Employment Service

A public employment service receives employer job postings, processes them and publishes them. Every day of delay between receipt and publication is a day a jobseeker does not see a matching opportunity.

Project Job posting management and website redesignSector Public Sector

Context

The internal processing path and the public site were two separate worlds, joined by re-entry. A posting validated on Monday could appear on Friday, and a correction meant redoing both sides. The site, designed in another era, carried ergonomics no longer matching jobseeker habits — rudimentary keyword search, no useful filters, display unsuited to phones. Employers filed postings by form and then called to learn whether they were live.

Challenge

Aligning an administrative processing path — with its stages and responsibilities — with immediate publication, without the latter bypassing the former. And meeting the accessibility standard applicable to public services, on a site used by people in vulnerable situations.

Objectives

  • Redesign the public site around jobseekers’ actual habits.
  • Connect posting management to publication, without double entry.
  • Preserve the internal processing path and its validations.
  • Make a filing’s status visible to the employer without a call.
  • Comply with the accessibility standard for public services.

Postings are entered once and published directly, with no double path between processing department and site. An employer tracks their filing without calling, and the delay between validation and publication is now immediate.
