Fine Food House

A premium fine food house sells in store, online and to resellers, with a catalogue varying by season and availability. Scarcity is part of the product.

Project Website and CRMSector Food & Agribusiness

Context

What was no longer available stayed offered online, sometimes for days. The store knew its stock, the warehouse its own, and the site displayed a third truth. Every unfulfillable order cost more than a lost sale: it eroded trust in a product whose price rests on exactness. Resellers worked from a catalogue sent by email, with their own negotiated prices, and use-by dates were tracked on spreadsheets — so unlinked to what the site offered for sale.

Challenge

Reflecting in real time an availability that changes fast, on a seasonal catalogue where shortage is normal — and where announcing it is preferable to suffering it. Traceability adds its constraint: a premium food product must be withdrawable by batch, and the withdrawal must propagate to all channels the same day.

Objectives

  • Have the site, the store and resellers read the same product data.
  • Reflect a shortage online the day it occurs.
  • Carry a seasonal catalogue without manual intervention.
  • Link use-by dates to the catalogue on sale.
  • Gather the client relationship from all three channels in one tool.

Catalogue, client relationship and points of sale read the same base, and a shortage is reflected online immediately. A withdrawn batch disappears from all three channels the same day.
